New “Horses” for Threejays Carriages

February 16, 2009

img034For Valentine’s Day, some girls get flowers and some girls get chocolates.  Some very lucky girls, however, get big red trucks!  Threejays Carriages recently purchased a new 2008 Ford F350. Our previous truck (2005 Ford F350) was doing well, but had over 120,000 miles on it from all the weddings, funerals and special events we do. It was time for a new truck. We have clients who depend on us to be at their event.  We take pride in not only being on time, but being early. Dependable “horses” under the hood are necessary for the horses in the trailer to get to their jobs on time! Threejays Carriages would like to thank Bob Tomes Ford in McKinney, TX. This is the second truck Threejays Carriages has purchased from Bob Tomes Ford and we will continue to purchase vehicles from them in the future.  www.bobtomesford.com

Brookview Jess aka “Sarah”

February 6, 2009

sarahOn February 4th we said goodbye to one of our beloved horses, Sarah.  Sarah passed away peacefully in her sleep Wednesday morning at the age of twenty one.  Sarah, and her older sister Bonnie, were one of the first pairs of horses we purchased for Threejays Carriages.  The “ladies”, as they were affectionately known, spent their early careers working hard as logging horses and broodmares in Northeast Canada.  They even donated their services as therapeutic riding and driving horses for disabled children.  After breaking my back training a young driving horse, Sarah and Bonnie were the ones who gave me the courage and confidence to continue driving and training horses.  We retired “the ladies” in the spring of 2007, and although Sarah enjoyed retirement (loafing around on 60 acres), she enjoyed work so much more.  I have never met a pair of horses who absolutely loved to work as much as Sarah and Bonnie.  They would bend their heads down to help me put on their collars and would even open their mouths and take the bits before the bridle was even on their head.  Sarah and Bonnie had been together for Sarah’s entire twenty one years, and Bonnie’s heart is quite heavy right now.  John and I would like to thank Sarah for being a part of Threejays Carriages and our family.  We will miss you dearly.  You have forever left hoof prints on our hearts.  We love you.
