You Can’t Pet a Limousine

In Daily, Events, funerals, Holidays, Horses, Information, weddings on 01/07/2011 at 2:09 pm

Threejays Carriages is delighted to announce that our customers have voted us The Best in DFW. In the recent WFAA A-List contest, Threejays Carriages surpassed 30 other limousine and carriage services to be chosen as THE BEST. Of course they didn’t have a category specific to horse-drawn carriages, so we were put in with the limousines in the Wedding category. Our clients have spoken and proven that our horse-drawn carriage service is so much more than transportation, like a limousine. Besides, you can’t a limousine!

Threejays Carriages White Horses

In funerals, Horses, Information, weddings on 05/05/2010 at 10:12 am

Our spectacular white pair, Tiva and Tyee, have really been earning their keep.  This brother and sister team of horses is doing an excellent job at both weddings and funerals.  The two horses are actually minimally spotted Leopard Appaloosas who are half Appaloosa and half Belgian, but they are true white horses with pink skin.  The Appaloosa breed was perfected by the Nez Perce Indians.  Appaloosa horses not only have distinct color patterns, but they also have very unique personalities, and this is true for our two.  We purchased them a couple years ago from a family in Minnesota.  They did not know anything except how to be led around.  It has been a time consuming and expensive process, but they are finally ready to show off.  Our clients are really enjoying them and I love working with them and watching them blossom into a solid pair of carriage horses.

Spring Foals at Threejays Carriages

In Farm, Horses, Information on 05/03/2010 at 11:07 pm

Our Percheron mare, Sally, gave birth to a gorgeous filly on May 1st.  The foal is half Percheron and half Morgan and will be a stunning grey head turner when she grows up.  We use Sally only for our South Asian weddings and she does a fabulous job.  Now that she has a baby to take care of, however, we will have to use a different horse for our Indian weddings until the foal is old enough to be weaned.  We have bred one of our black Percheron/Morgan mares, Pearl, to a striking black Andalusian stallion, Fiero LFA.  Andalusians are fabulous Spanish horses that were bred for bull fighting and as war horses.  Since a horse’s gestation is around 340 days, we will hopefully have a beautiful black foal from her next spring and will most likely breed her again so we will have full siblings as a new black pair of carriage horses.

Gorgeous White Horses

In Daily, funerals, Holidays, Horses, weddings on 01/09/2010 at 6:52 am

We are proud to announce our newest additions, Tiva and Tyee.  This gorgeous pair of white horses is now available for your event.  It has taken some time to get these two into service, but they have been well worth the wait.  TnT are full siblings, Appaloosa/Belgian crosses that are true white horses, five and six years old, over 17hh, athletic and elegant.  We look forward to providing you the excellence and service you demand, now with two more horses.

Bonnie has Joined her Sister

In Daily, Events, Farm, Horses, Information on 06/30/2009 at 9:23 pm

Our oldest mare, Bonnie, has crossed over the rainbow bridge and joined her sister who passed away earlier this month.  The two “ladies”, as I affectionately called them, were two of the best horses I ever knew.  There will never be two horses more special than Sarah and Bonnie.  They will be greatly missed.

Equine Business Managment

In Daily, Horses, Information, Personal on 08/25/2008 at 10:24 pm

I always enjoy learning and have enrolled in a course at North Central Texas College called Equine Business Management.  John and I both graduated college with our Bachelor’s Degrees over ten years ago, but we both know you can never stop learning.  Threejays Carriages is a very successful business that has been a pleasure to own and operate for so many years, but there’s always room for improvement.  John and I both have had years of experience as professionals in the corporate “real” world as educators, managers, supervisors, etc. and we know what it takes to provide excellent customer service.  We have worked from the ground up making Threejays Carriages the best in the industry, but I would like to learn more about the equine industry and trends, especially in our current economy.  I am looking forward to learning how I can continue to improve and grow our business so we exceed not only our clients’ expectations, but our own.

Breeding Holly

In Events, Horses, Information on 07/20/2008 at 8:43 pm

Threejays Carriages is currently quite involved with trying to get our grey Percheron mare, Holly, pregnant.  We are working towards a new pair of grey horses to have for future weddings and events to replace our current pair of white appaloosa horses. We are breeding her to a well-bred, gorgeous, successful dressage Andalusian stallion, Electrizar.  We are encountering quite a few road blocks along the way.  I will keep you posted as we take this journey with Holly and let you know if we are successful. Below are a couple pictures of Holly as well as Electrizar.  You can read more about Zar at www.bridledpassionfarm.com

AQHA Legend Jerry Wells

In funerals, Horses on 07/09/2008 at 3:29 pm

Recently, Threejays Carriages was honored to be chosen to provide a horse-drawn hearse for the funeral of Jerry Wells in Sulphur, Oklahoma.  Jerry Wells was a legend in the Quarter Horse world, with 61 AQHA Championships, induction into the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Hall of Fame and presentation of the Professional Horseman Lifetime Achievement Award.  Stormy weather loomed all day long, but miraculously, the rain, thunder and lightning ceased long enough for us to carry Jerry to his final resting place.  For more information on Jerry Wells, go to www.jerrywellsquarterhorses.com.
