Threejays Carriages has been voted The Best in DFW by our clients. The WFAA A-List is an online “contest” where businesses compete to be voted “The Best” in their industry in the metroplex. Threejays Carriages is in the Wedding category and the Limousine sub-category. Unfortunately, the contest doesn’t offer a horse-drawn carriage category, so the competition is pretty tough because limousines have a much larger client base than a horse-drawn carriage because they have a fleet of limos and can do several events in a day with each limo. But, our horse-drawn carriage service is something unique and special that makes such a statement at any event. Besides, you can’t pet a limousine! In the recent WFAA A-List contest, Threejays Carriages surpassed 30 other limousine and carriage services to be chosen as THE BEST. Of course they didn’t have a category specific to horse-drawn carriages, so we were put in with the limousines in the Wedding category. Our clients have spoken and proven that our horse-drawn carriage service is so much more than transportation, like a limousine. Besides, you can’t a limousine!

Threejays Carriages holiday carriage rides will operate from Saturday, November 27, 2010-Sunday, January 2, 2011. Reservations can be made online only through November 15^th. Guests may call in their reservations as well after November 15^th. Threejays Carriages offers many different types of horse-drawn vehicles to accommodate your group, whether you want a quiet romantic ride for two or you have a large exuberant group who want to sing carols as they trot down the street. Gift Certificates may also be purchased online. You may even choose to book one of our romantic Valentine Carriages that will be offered in February. We are also available for private parties throughout the DFW Metroplex (not only for the holidays, but throughout the year).

Memorial Day 2010

We spent this Memorial Day doing a parade with the Caisson for the City of Granbury. It was a great parade. Small, but with a huge turn out of people on the square. We were in a group representing the U.S. Veteran’s Museum including our Caisson, a float with some fabulous singers and the Liberty Bell. It is always a somber feeling when the Caisson leads the Liberty Bell and it is ringing slowly and deeply. We stopped on the square and a country singer with a guitar sang a song about our soldiers fighting for our freedom. Not a dry eye in the town.

Threejays Carriages White Horses

Our spectacular white pair, Tiva and Tyee, have really been earning their keep. This brother and sister team of horses is doing an excellent job at both weddings and funerals. The two horses are actually minimally spotted Leopard Appaloosas who are half Appaloosa and half Belgian, but they are true white horses with pink skin. The Appaloosa breed was perfected by the Nez Perce Indians. Appaloosa horses not only have distinct color patterns, but they also have very unique personalities, and this is true for our two. We purchased them a couple years ago from a family in Minnesota. They did not know anything except how to be led around. It has been a time consuming and expensive process, but they are finally ready to show off. Our clients are really enjoying them and I love working with them and watching them blossom into a solid pair of carriage horses.

Off The Farm

So, what do we do for fun when we aren’t busy with “carriage stuff”? We do dog trials! John and I both enjoy competing in USBCHA Sheepdog Trials with our Border Collies. It is a fun, and addictive, sport with plenty of great people and great dogs. We have already been to a few trials this year and have several more lined up, including one in Washington and one in New Mexico this summer.
